Pediatric Care
Peak Pediatrics accepts most insurance companies. It is your responsibility to check with your insurance to be sure we are in your network. We accept all pediatric state insurances. You may search for our practice in your network by calling your insurance provider or utilizing their website.
Primary Care
Dr. Whelan was born in Houston, Texas and spent her childhood in Sugar Land, Texas. She attended the University of Texas – Austin where she completed her undergraduate degree in Nutritional Sciences. While there, she realized though she loved talking about (and eating) food, she was more interested in the complexities of medicine. She then went to medical school at Baylor College of Medicine and completed her pediatrics training at University of Colorado. Dr. Whelan chose to focus on primary care pediatrics because of the opportunity to combine preventive medicine and advocacy along with strong patient-physician relationships.
Emergency Care
Community Health Workers: If you have a visit to urgent care or the emergency department you will likely get a call from one of our community health workers to follow up on how your child is doing. They are also available to help coordinate transportation to appointments, connect families to food banks, assist with housing resources, and can also assist parents with finding an adult PCP. These staff members have received an enormous amount of training through the CU School of Public Health and would love to assist your family!
Immunizations
We believe in the safety of vaccines and want to help make sure our patients are up to date on their shots. At all well-checks, we will go over the recommended vaccination for your child. We want to provide you with the best information about vaccines.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Her clinical interests include ADHD and obesity. Talking and addressing any questions that ‘new parents’ have is also a passion. Early days of parenthood can be stressful and she tries to do as much as possible to make sure it is a pleasurable experience for them.

Mental Health
Right to Inspect and Copy. You have the right to inspect and copy your health information, with limited exceptions. To access your medical information, you must submit a written request detailing what information you want access to, whether you want to inspect it or get a copy of it, and if you want a copy, your preferred form and format. We will provide copies in your requested form and format if it is readily producible, or we will provide you with an alternative format you find acceptable, or if we can’t agree and we maintain the record in an electronic format, we will provide your choice of a readable electronic or hardcopy format. We will also send a copy to any other person you designate in writing. We will charge a reasonable fee which covers our costs for labor, supplies, postage, and if requested and agreed to in advance, the cost of preparing an explanation or summary, as allowed by federal [and state] law. We may deny your request under limited circumstances. If we deny your request to access your child’s records or the records of an incapacitated adult you are representing because we believe allowing access would be reasonably likely to cause substantial harm to the patient, you will have a right to appeal our decision. If we deny your request to access your psychotherapy notes, you will have the right to have them transferred to another mental health professional.
Psychiatry
The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry has a list of resources on talking to your children, coping with change, dealing with illness or death as well as activities to keep children busy
Behavioral Health
Well child visits, med checks, and first behavioral consults are booked out several weeks in advance, please be on time as it may take a few weeks to reschedule you into another appointment. If you arrive late to a sick visit, we will work your child in and see them as the schedule allows. However, it may not be with your originally scheduled provider and you may experience a delay in being seen. Late arrivals for therapy appointments are accommodated at the discretion of the behavioral health provider.
