The Wheat Ridge City Government operates through various departments, including administrative services, community development, municipal court and police. The city government s parks and recreation department is responsible for the preservation and maintenance of public facilities and providing adequate open spaces and park areas for residents. The Wheat Ridge City Government s public works department is responsible for maintaining and improving the city s infrastructure that includes more than 125 miles of streets and over 35 miles of storm sewers. It provides a variety of public services, including code enforcement, health care and business licensing. The Wheat Ridge City Government also operates through the cultural, election, planning, and animal welfare and control commission.
