Our physicians recommend obtaining calcium as much as possible from dietary sources and use calcium supplements as needed. An adult patient over age 40-50 that does not have gastrointestinal disorders or surgeries, needs ~ 1200 mg calcium (divided in 2-3 meals/day). More calcium will not reduce risk for fractures or make bones stronger but will increase the risk for kidney stones.

Justin grew up in Winner, SD. He attended college at South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD where he studied Athletic Training as a Richard Miller Leader of Tomorrow. He went on to the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, SD to complete his PA training and subsequently moved to Nebraska where he began practicing in general surgery. In 2004 Justin began his Master of PA Studies at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Prior to becoming a PA, Justin worked as an EMT, a student athletic trainer and a park ranger. Today, Justin works primarily with Dr. Hugate on the complex orthopedic surgery team. In his spare time he enjoys running, hiking, camping, playing with his dog and going to sporting events.

Most studies show good to excellent outcomes after hip arthroscopy, with most patients returning to sports at their pre-injury level between 6-7 months after surgery. Additionally, patients tend to have increased range of motion and less discomfort with hip flexion, cutting, and pivoting motions. Surgery generally eliminates the groin pain and gets rid of the clicking, popping and catching in the hip.

It’s pretty incredible how small my scars are and how quickly they healed,” he said. “Even though the surgery was no fun, I’m very glad I did it.“Before it was a major burden on my wife that I couldn’t do things. I’m not constantly angry or frustrated, and I have a better outlook on life.”

Dr. Jeremy Kinder and Dr Ron Hugate are a team specially trained in limb preservation. Dr. Kinder trained at Rush Medical Center in Chicago, IL and is specialized in reconstructive orthopedic surgery. This special training allows him to tackle the toughest cases.

Over time, if FAI is untreated, it exposes the cartilage in the hip joint to excessive wear and tear, which starts the process of arthritis as you age. Untreated hip pain caused by impingement or a labral tear can lead to arthritis, so it is important to address the underlying cause of hip pain. While it is important to note hip arthroscopy is not used to treat arthritis, it can be an important tool in preventing it.
Hip Replacement
Preserve a patient’s natural hip joint, rather than undergoing a hip replacement. These procedures generally are aimed at either re-shaping the hip joint or repairing/replacing damaged tissues.
Knee Replacement
Specialized training and instrumentation enable Dr. Foran to perform traditional knee replacement surgery in a minimally invasive manner. By using smaller incisions he is able to complete the surgery without cutting tendons or ligaments, and with less disruption to the soft tissues. This, too, allows patients to typically recover quicker.
Reconstructive Surgery
She began her path to Panorama with a degree in health information management from College of Saint Mary in Omaha, Nebraska. A desire for direct patient care led her to obtain a master of medical science degree in physician assistant studies from Methodist University in North Carolina. Karolyn brings PA experience in general surgery, trauma, and plastic and reconstructive surgery.

For Ron’s treatment, Dr. Horner utilized a highly specialized process called electromyography (EMG) to identify the proper muscle in Ron’s neck where his headaches and migraines were being generated. Dr. Horner then administered a series of Botox injections to relieve Ron’s pain and address his symptoms. “It was quick and easy, and I got good results,” Ron said. “I was living on pain pills to get through the day before, but I haven’t needed a single pill since my treatment. It’s amazing.”

Hannah completed her undergraduate degree from the University of Vermont in Nutrition and Food Sciences with a minor in Chemistry. She went on to get her Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Northeastern University in Boston, MA. Hannah has a passion in clinical nutrition and prior to PA school, she worked as a Registered Dietician at the University of Colorado Hospital with the solid organ transplant team and the bariatric surgery team. Today, Hannah works with Dr. Agarwala, Dr. Drewek, Dr. Wong, Dr. Loutzenhiser, and the rest of the surgical spine team. In her free time Hannah enjoys any activities and sports that take place in the mountains or on water.

Our office in Highlands Ranch is located in a brand new state-of-the-art facility. Here, we have the Panorama Wellness & Sports Institute athletic training center. Through that we offer sport specific athletic training on an indoor turf field and also have a full basketball court. Frozen Shoulder
Frozen Shoulder or adhesive capsulitis is a condition that usually affects middle age individuals, more often women than men. Sometimes the shoulder can get “stuck,” leading to decreased movement in the joint capsule. Over time the shoulder joint becomes inflamed and difficult to move. Sometimes, an injury to the shoulder can preceed the “freezing” of the joint capsule, but oftentimes individuals with this problem do not know when or how it even started. Typically they have pain when moving the shoulder and difficulty getting dressed or performing the daily activities of life. People with this condition are often helped with physical therapy. If that is unsuccessful, a manipulation of the joint while under anesthesia can often free the joint and being the path to healing.

Tennis elbow is common. For people suffering with this condition, it can affect your daily life — causing pain or a burning sensation on the outside of the elbow. This is due to an inflammation of the tendons in the joint. Tennis elbow can also can lead to weak grip strength and it typically gets worse when you use your forearm, such as when you swing a tennis racquet or use a wrench.

She attended Colorado State University for her undergraduate degree and University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine for her masters of physician assistant studies. Her passion for orthopedics and sports medicine stems from her participation in competitive sports through high school and college, and her love for helping others rehabilitate from injury and return back to their active lifestyle or sport. She loves being active in the great outdoors running, biking or hiking, and especially loves spending time with her husband and two dogs. Regis University Men’s Basketball Coach Lonnie Porter has pretty much done it all when it comes to sports... and also sports injuries. He has been to Panorama for everything from foot surgery to double knee replacements to finger reconstruction, and shoulder surgery is next on the list. “I was in great shape until I got to 60, and that’s when things started to change,” Lonnie said. “With all of the sports that I played, there was a lot of wear and tear. The biggest thing was the pain.”
