Cafe Rio

This is one of those few eateries that hold true to their promoting authentic Southwestern Cuisine and living up to the Patron’s expectation of successfully finding as close as one can to Rio Grande Mexico, Southern Texas, and New Mexican cookery! We have had the pleasure of visiting multiple times each of Utah-based local eateries and find them as one of the best in the Valley of the Sun for quality, taste, atmosphere, service, price and value for the buck – in my opinion, few restaurants can achieve this objective successfully. Café Rio Mexican Grill does it… and consistently. During our last sampling, which unfortunately needed to be at home (due to COVID-19), we enjoyed the Two Enchilada Entrée of Sweet Pork Barbacoa (perfectly not oversweet as many other places make them) and Fire Grilled Steak (nicely charred and flavorful), Hatch Green Chile, a Cilantro Lime Rice that’s to die for, and a fab version of Half & Half Beans (Black & Pinto) with their house-made flour tortilla. On top of that, my wife had an ultra-fantastic rendering of their Two Enchilada Entrée of Sweet Pork Barbacoa, (real and fresh) Hatch Green Chile, Cilantro Lime Rice, Black Beans with a home-made corn tortilla - yummy. The Tortilla Soup with shredded chicken breast, chip strips, cilantro, guacamole, lime and pico de gallo is by far, one of the best in the Valley. Although I won’t mention which are the other four at this time, Café Rio stands as one of OUR top five go-to Southwestern eateries between the North and South Mountains.
