Lee's Beauty Supply

I have been a customer of the Lee beauty supply on Southfield road for many years. They have great products and wide selection of products. However over this thanksgiving weekend I went to buy some hicks edge control gel. The edge control gel is held behind the counter and you have to make a request for the gel. The associate sold me the gel and went on my day. That night my friend was able to style my hair and informed me that the hicks edge control gel was not good and that I should return it. The receipt from this Lee beauty says that products cannot be returned but may be exchanged. So the next day I returned to Lee beauty to return the edge control gel. When the associate opened the edge control gel he said it had been used. I said I had not used it. The associate pointed out some where in the gel where the gel had been smoothed over. I said I did not use the gel he began to repeatedly tell me that I had used the gel. I pointed out that the associate from yesterday did open the gel to show me the product so how does he know that the gel was not sold that way. He proceeds to tell me that I am lying. As a loyal customer I become very upset that the customer is not right and that an associate is calling the customer a liar!! This is by far the most unacceptable customer service I have ever received. I will no longer be returning to this Lee beauty supply EVER again! And I will proceed to let my friends and family know as well. I do not have the name of the associate but I know that the one who provided poor customer service was a male. I think that something needs to be done in their training as to how they handle their customers.

I was making a purchase today of hair accessories that amounted to $98. I had been in the store for an hour selecting the items. When the lady rang them up, I asked for a discount which Lee’s on Coolidge always gives me when I spend a good amount of money. This location did not and rushed me to make a decision. I walked away because of this and the abruptness of the cashier. I asked for the contact info for the owner and she refused to give it to me. So, I’m writing this review to let the owner know that it is foolish to let a return customer making an almost $100 purchase to walk away because you refuse to give a discount that a competitive Lee’s has no problem giving. It was a foolish business decision. I would urge people to go to the Lee’s on Coolidge instead of this one. We need to stop supporting business owners who take us for granted selling products directed at the minority community and feel they don’t need to appeal to us.

Love this Lee's beauty supply. Never crowded. Store is nicely organized where you can easily find what you're looking for. Love the prices too. I noticed the items at this location is lower than some of the other locations.
