A part of Volunteers of America of the Dakotas, Tobacco Prevention Program focuses on reducing diseases, disabilities and deaths related to tobacco use by preventing the initiation of tobacco use and promoting smoke quitting among youths and adults. locarted in Sioux Falls, S.D., it provides assistance services for medical and dental care facilities in the development of tobacco policies. The program provides a variety of informational resources, such as brochures, posters, videotapes, display items, reference books and games. The Tobacco Prevention Program also offers technical assistance services on prevention activities to community groups, schools, professionals, parents and youths in more than 15 counties area South Dakota. The Volunteers of America of the Dakotas is a nonprofit organization that offers cultural programs that include various recreational activities, such as arts and crafts and meditation classes. It also provides Prime for Life, which is a drug and alcohol prevention program for youths below the age of 21. The organization offers case management and educational services, as well as provides employment opportunities and housing options. It is accredited by the Council on Accreditation.
