Primary Care
Primary care sports medicine physicians are experts in the field of sports medicine. They are involved in research and education and also have a tremendous amount of hands-on experience. Dr. Michael Bahk graduated from Northwestern University with a bachelor's degree in English studies. He explained my test results and offered treatment options to help me heal. I have a shoulder injury that, initially, Dr. Ramin thought might be a rotator cuff tear. X-rays were taken in the office on my initial visit. Dr. Ramin did various tests to check my mobility. I was sent for an MRI, and once the results showed no tear, I had a cortisone shot and started PT. Dr. Ramin even said to call if I needed a follow-up. You don't hear that from doctors. The field of medicine is vast and constantly changing. As new science and technology evolves, so too does the practice of medicine and the advancement of its subspecialties. One such advancement is the development of the field of sports medicine. Traditionally sports medicine has dealt with musculoskeletal injuries sustained by the athlete and thus has classically been a responsibility assumed by the orthopedic surgeon.
