Toenail fungus, is embarrassing and no one wants to talk about it. It affects millions of Americans, and besides being unsightly, it can even be painful. Known medically as onychomycosis, much progress has been made in identifying and successfully treating this condition. There can be a hereditary predisposition to this Fungal infection as well as being contracted in damp areas, such as public gyms, showers, or pools. Once fungal debris becomes trapped under the nail our shoes and socks provide the perfect warm, moist and dark environment in which the fungus will thrive.
