He graduated from Madison Technical College and began his career as a dental technician in Wisconsin at D&S Dental Laboratory. Bio: Tramain Watkins, CDT, has been working in the dental laboratory industry for more than 30 years. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts from Trinity College in Issaquah, WA as class valedictorian, he has gained extensive experience in all aspects of fixed and removable restorations, with an emphasis on implant supported and retained restorations. He also has provided clinical support in case planning, troubleshooting, and implant placement. He has trained other technicians in all aspects of dental technology, and has written and lectured on several aspects of restorative dentistry.

Dentures
Most patients dread the realization that they need dentures – and for good reason. Dentures may cause pain, embarrassment and compromised function, denying patients their favorite foods. Even worse, the edentulous patient will experience bone loss over time, leading to further compromised function and dental health. Today’s denture is essentially the same technology as that of their parents’ and grandparents’ generations. It’s no wonder that for many patients, dentures makes them feel old!

Many edentulous patients are candidates for dental implants, although some of them may not seriously consider this treatment option due to the cost and a lack of information about the treatment plan.
