Skin lesion removal is a procedure to remove growths on your skin. You may choose to have a skin lesion removed for a plethora of cosmetic reasons, or because it is potentially cancerous or precancerous. No matter the reason, at Skin Wellness Center, we can get rid of your skin lesion during a routine visit using cryotherapy, surgical excision, or ESKATA.
Medical Weight Loss
Good candidates for the CoolSculpting procedure have noticeable bulges in targeted areas that they’d like to get rid of. Treatable areas include the submental area (under the chin), thigh, abdomen, flank, along with bra fat, back fat, underneath the buttocks, and the upper arms. CoolSculpting is not a weight-loss solution for people who are obese. It is, however, an excellent option for those looking to sculpt troublesome areas.*

Internal Medicine
Dr. Haynes is double-boarded in Dermatology and Internal Medicine. She attended Louisiana State University Medical Center for her doctorate degree and Dermatology Residency. She completed Internal Medicine residency at Orlando Regional Medical Center.

MRI
Cryotherapy, also known as cryosurgery, uses liquid nitrogen to remove abnormal skin tissue. This treatment is recommended on basal cell carcinomas, actinic keratoses, moles, and warts. Using the extreme cold of the liquid nitrogren, we will target and freeze any abnormal cells. After the procedure is over, the frozen tissue thaws and will either dissolve and form a scab or will be naturally absorbed by the body. We will use an MRI to guide the cryoprobe (a hollow instrument that circulates the liquid nitrogen) and will monitor the freezing process to limit damage to the nearby, healthy tissue. For external tumors, liquid nitrogen is applied directly to the cancerous cells with a cotton swab or spraying device.
Chemotherapy
Since cryotherapy only targets a limited area, damage to healthy tissue is easily avoided. If your cancer is considered inoperable or does not respond to standard treatments, cryotherapy is an excellent option. Treatments can be safely repeated and used alongside chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, and hormone therapy.

With a board-certified dermatologist on staff, we provide annual skin checks and Mohs surgery to help you stay ahead of skin cancer.
Reconstructive Surgery
Or, if the surgical area is complex, your surgeon may temporarily close your wound and refer you to another surgeon for additional reconstructive surgery.

Dermatology
The American Academy of Dermatology has developed the following ABCDE guide for assessing whether or not a mole or other lesion may be becoming cancerous. Asymmetry: Half the mole does not match the other half in size, shape, or color. Border: The edges of the mole are irregular or blurred. Color: The mole is not the same color throughout. Diameter: The mole is larger than one-quarter inch in size. Elevation: The mole becomes elevated or raised from the skin.

Howard Hirschfield, ARNP is a certified nurse practitioner working locally in the Dermatology specialty since 1998. He is a well-known experienced clinical provider in the evaluation and treatment of routine skin problems and screening for skin cancer. Contact allergy is a type of eczema in which a rash is caused by something that comes into direct contact with the skin.
Lesions
Once sun damage has progressed to the point where AKs develop, new keratoses may appear even without further sun exposure. The best and most effective way to prevent new AKs is with sun protection and avoidance. Using sunscreen, hats and clothing are essential in preventing new lesions and future skin cancer. There are topical treatment strategies that can be tailored to your skin in order to help prevent AKs as well.
