Dr. Richard D Corley, MD

I don't know if this will reach Dr. Corley, but I hope so. I met him in 1984, and he was a cranky, cantankerous physician who held nothing back. Except... he was meant to amputate one of my arms, and he felt that he just couldn't. So he put me on a helicopter and had me flown elsewhere, to a different plastic surgeon... someone Dr. Corley thought could save my arm. And guess what? That's what happened. I am typing now, using both my hands, which almost no one thought I would ever be able to do. I will never, ever forget that amazing man with the long goggle thingies on his eyes! I love you, Dr. Corley. And the few things I remember about you putting me on that helicopter include rain on my face, and your kiss on my left cheek. Just so you know... you are at least ONE person's hero in this world. Thank you for what you did for me. I think of you every single day.
