Fillings
At Castillo and Mulkay Dental, we remove and replace old metal fillings with tooth-colored white fillings. The vast majority of patients are now opting for the removal of silver amalgam fillings because they contain a high amount of mercury, known to be more toxic than lead, cadmium or arsenic. Many medical practitioners believe mercury causes physical and psychological problems in patients, such as neurodegenerative diseases, birth defects and mental disorders.
Resin Composite
Dental bonding is a simple procedure that is usually performed without an anesthetic or a dental injection. In this process, the surface of your tooth is first etched with a special liquid to enhance the adhesive ability of the bonding material. An adhesive material and a composite resin are then applied to the tooth and given the desired shape and finally hardened with the help of safe ultraviolet light. Sometimes, a veneer (custom-shaped tooth covering) may be bonded to the surface of the tooth.
Veneers
Porcelain veneers are translucent, ultra-thin laminates made up of ceramic material, which are bonded to the front of teeth much like a false fingernail is used to enlarge and beautify a natural fingernail. This procedure requires little or no anesthesia.

The white fillings we use can be bonded into place in one appointment. This procedure is also known as Dental Bonding.

Root Canal Treatment
At Castillo and Mulkay Dental, root canal treatment is as simple, painless and gentle as possible. If you're suffering from a severe tooth ache and your tooth has a deep cavity, you may need a root canal treatment to save your tooth. Root canal therapy involves little or no discomfort and is a relatively uncomplicated procedure. It may involve anywhere from one to three visits to one of our dental clinics in North Bergen or Passaic.

Deep Cleaning
Depending on how advanced it is, gum disease can be treated in several different ways. Correct oral hygiene, instruction and deep cleaning under the gums are common treatments for less severe forms of gum disease. For more advanced cases, gum surgery, bone grafts and antibiotics may be indicated.
