Sushi Lovers Beware! This used...

Sushi Lovers Beware! This used to be one of my favorite local sushi places to eat at but not anymore. We came in on Saturday for dinner and sat at the sushi bar and were able to watch as the sushi was prepared. To my suprise the men making the sushi were eatting while they were preparing my food. Litterly they were making the sushi rolls and putting food in their mouth. I would say there were 3 of them doing this and as 2 of them realized I was noticing they came over and said may I help you. As if they were saying what are you going to do about it. As unconfortabe as they made me feel I didnt say a word but I wont be back. We were starved and I didnt want them to be doing something to the rest of the food we were making. We should of just watlked out but we had a long day and were starving. I don't care how hungry they are, that us unsanitary for them to be eating as they are making customers food.

Good, but the service, not always wonderful

We go to Fugi quite often and absolutely love the food. We do the teppan grill everytime, and sometimes also order suhi at the grill as well. You will never have to worry about enjoying your food, but here are the downfalls.

-If you do order sushi before your teppan, you might not get it until after your chef is finished with your teppan dinner. Most people order the sushi so they can have an appetizer while they wait. I understand that they only have a couple sushi chefs on at a time and it's hard to make sushi for an entire restaurant, especially considering the sushi side of the restaurant is usually very busy. But maybe an extra set of hands wouldn't hurt?

-Don't be surprised if they seat you at one of the grills and then move you over to another because the chef wants to cook for everyone at once. I feel like once you're seated, you should stay where you are. To move people over is rude and inconsiderate. But at the same time, I can understand that if you continually cook for small groups instead of consolidating, that's going to create a wait time, which is also bad on the patrons side.

-As for someone talking about not being able to get change - that may have been true once or twice. Here's the thing - restaurants have to make their deposits and can only keep so much cash on hand. If everyone before you has needed change, they are not a bank, and do not have unlimited funds. That's life. You cannot always be accommodated. There are many other stores and restaurants in the strip, that I'm sure, could make change for you. That is hardly worth commenting on as a factor of not to go.

Overall, the food is very good. The white sauce is amazing!!! You will get too much food to eat it all at dinner...prices around $25 for Teppan. At lunch, it is much cheaper...around $13-$15. You only get soup, vegetables, the meats of your choice, and rice. No salad, noodles, or appetizer shrimp. Still worth it and a lot of food. It's the closest hibachi on this side of town and the downfalls are not enough to make you drive to Kobe's and pay more.

The WORST Sashimi/rawfish I've ever had

If I could give negative stars I would give this restaurant -100 stars. I couldn't remember why I stop going there but as soon as the food arrive, I remembered. I am a raw fish sashimi lover and I ordered a sashimi moriwasee. The dish description on the menu indicated 14 pieces but does not indicate how many kinds of fish or what types of fish. When the food came, I was beyond severely pissed. On the plate (or boat rather), there were only four kinds of fish (four pieces each). Each pieces were larger slab. I am looking at this and thinking, "I am paying $25 for this". Seriously folks, I could go to publix and buy these fish and make this dish. This is how uninventive, unimaginative, and uncreative these supposed sushi chefs are at the Fuji Sushi Waterford Lakes. In today's economy, every trip to a restaurant is something that we have to save for. I am an asian sushi lover and I am extremely insulted to think that they would think I would deem this dish competent/worthy for my $25. After going to Fuji, I was not only pissed, I wanted to give the manager a piece of my mind. Unfortunately, I couldn't because by the time my waitress comes around to my table, after she hangs out with her peeps in the back and charges her ipod, and her cellphone, I wanted to get the F out of there. Service is mediocre. All the waitresses hangs out in the back talking about their delinquent boyfriends, some are even laying down in the back booth! If you are a sashimi/raw fish lover, I would seriously suggest going to Sakura Sushi in Winter Park, FL, off of Park Avenue. For the same price of $25, you would be dining in Sashimi heaven and you get SOOOOOO much more. You will be a fool to go back to Fuji again.

Great Sushi

This is one of the better Sushi bars in the East-Orlando area. The food is great and I've been there several times and have not had a problem with the service. The staff was very friendly and we have yet to experience any situations with receiving change when paying with cash. My friends and I mainly go for the sushi so I can't speak for the rest of the food but I hear it's also very good.
