Westminster School is a coed pre-school through eighth grade and provides a secure environment for its children. It is located in an older historic neighborhood near the downtown area. The mission of Westminster School is to educate children by engaging them actively in experiences that challenge students to solve problems as cooperative, confident, and responsible learners. About Our Teachers: In addition to being well-qualified professionally, faculty members are chosen because of their enthusiasm, warmth, sense of humor, and love of children. They provide extra help, coaching, chaperoning and encouragement towards each student’s growth. On staff are also a counselor and nurse. After School Programs: After school programs give parents the option of an enjoyable program for their children in the primary and lower divisions. The programs begin when school is dismissed and lasts until 5:50 p.m. The Middle School provides a supervised study hall from the end of the school day until 5:50 p.m. for families who need it. Westminster School is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools and the American Montessori Society.

Primary Division - Pre-kindergarten and kindergarten: The primary division accommodates the specific learning needs of young children including the need for movement, the need for structure, the need for independence, the need for success and the need for satisfying relationships. Lower Division - First through fifth grades: The lower division teaches children skills by actively involving them in a variety of learning experiences. The curriculum includes daily instruction in language arts, French, math, science and social studies as well as frequent experiences in music, art, physical education, technology and the library. Middle Division - Sixth through eighth grades: The middle division provides a balanced curriculum of math, English, science, social studies, Spanish, art, and physical education. Grade-level interdisciplinary classes such as Connections, CORE, American studies, and engineering further enrich the academic program. A broad range of challenging yet exciting electives is also offered. As many athletic teams in soccer, volleyball, basketball, track and tennis are sponsored as there is interest from the students. Westminster eighth grade graduates leave the school with a sense of confidence and a strong voice. They hold leadership positions in student government and are well known as classroom and activity leaders in all the area high schools.
