Teeth Cleaning
Treatment consultation Children should begin attending bi-annual checkups by age 2 or 3. A child’s checkup is different from an adult’s in that we may not take X-rays or photos, and we will look for development problems. Children may not need a dental cleaning until age 3 or 4.
Fluoride Treatment
Your dentist may recommend dental sealants and fluoride supplements during a checkup – especially for children. These preventive measures can deter tooth decay.
Dental Sealants
A dental sealant is a clear plastic coating that is painted on back teeth. It acts as a barrier against the sugars and starches that cause tooth decay. For kids, teens and adults, sealants on hard-to-clean back teeth can greatly reduce the risk of cavities. Dental sealants wear off over time, so they may need to be replaced periodically.

Crowns

Dental Bonding

Plus, like veneers, bonding resists stains, so it holds its natural-looking color.

Root Canal Treatment
If you are scheduled for urgent dental care —such as a root canal or filling—your appointment will remain unchanged. However, we may contact you to see if you would like to reschedule and have the treatment completed sooner.

Deep Cleaning
Gum disease is the main cause of tooth loss for adults in the US, and it has been linked to systemic conditions, such as heart disease, respiratory problems, and mental dysfunction. Eighty percent of American adults suffer from some form of this condition. If you show signs of gum disease, your hygienist will recommend a deep cleaning to remove plaque from below the gum line. Some patients benefit from special mouth rinses, antibiotic therapy, or habit changes to reduce gum disease. Regular maintenance visits are required to keep gums healthy and strong.

Dentures replace all teeth on the upper or lower arch, and partials replace multiple missing teeth on one arch.

Gum Surgery
LANAP is an acronym for Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure. It is an FDA cleared gum therapy technique for the treatment of infected swollen gums and loose teeth, as opposed to traditional gum surgery with a surgical knife. Only a dentist trained and licensed by the Millenium Laser Company can perform LANAP. If others dentists tell you they can accomplish LANAP, or something just like it, ask them where and when they received their training ( see Stony Hill Dental Care's Blog ). Only the Millennium Company has the university research to prove the success of its PerioLase. Only the Periolase is being used in a growing number of university based periodontal training centers. Tooth Extractions
In some situations, you can avoid tooth extraction by undergoing a root canal. An internally infected or inflamed tooth may be treatable. Inside every tooth, canals house the pulp (nerve) that sustains the tooth’s life. A deep cavity or crack can compromise the pulp and cause infection or inflammation. As infection and inflammation builds, the tooth begins to ache from internal pressure. At this point, your dentist will recommend extraction or a root canal.

You may associate braces with middle school or high school students, but more adults than ever are turning to orthodontics to improve their bite and reposition their teeth for cosmetic reasons. Modern braces can be made from clear or tooth-colored structures, and some dentists offer clear, removable aligners.
