Dr. Lamers joined the staff at Jensen Eye Associates in January 2019. He is a primary care optometrist that provides comprehensive diabetic eye examinations, contact lens fittings, treatment and management of ocular diseases as well as children’s and low vision examinations.

Glaucoma
Glaucoma is a disease of the eye that causes damage to the optic nerve. If left untreated, the disease can destroy the optic nerve, leading to loss of vision. Severe glaucoma without treatment can result in blindness.. Glaucoma usually involves the buildup of excessive fluid pressure within the eye. Most people who have glaucoma are above the age of 65, although glaucoma can occur at any age. If other people in the family have glaucoma, the risk of developing glaucoma increases.
Ophthalmology
Dr. Peter Jensen grew up in Caldwell, Idaho. He graduated with honors from Oregon State University and magna cum laude from the University of Oregon Medical School. As an honor by his peers in medical school, he received the Gold Head Cane Award for excellence as a student physician. Dr. Jensen served his internship at Harbor General Hospital in Torrance, CA. His ophthalmology residency was the University Of Washington School Of Medicine in Seattle, after which he achieved his certification by the American Board of Ophthalmology.

Laser Eye Surgery
Dr. Johanna joined Jensen Eye Associates in 2004, and is a staff member of both St. Alphonsus Medical Center in Nampa, and West Valley Medical Center in Caldwell. She specializes in small-incision cataract surgery, plastic (cosmetic eye surgery, and BOTOX). She performs small–incision cataract surgery, eyelid surgery, CK, and medical/surgical treatment for chronic diseases such as glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy. Dr. Johanna also provides comprehensive eye examinations and contact lens fitting. She is committed to provide the highest quality of care to her patients, using the latest surgical and diagnostic techniques.
Cataracts
The AcrySof ReSTOR is a permanent artificial lens which is implanted in the eye to restore vision after the natural lens is removed, usually because of cataract. The ReSTOR lens is convex on both sides and made of a soft plastic. Following surgical removal of the clouded natural lens, the ReSTOR lens is folded and inserted into the eye through a tiny incision. The ReSTOR lens is like two lenses in one, one refractive lens is for distance vision, and the other one, a diffractive lens, is for near vision. In clinical studies, 80% of patients who had the ReSTOR lens implanted into both eyes reported they never used corrective glasses after the surgery.
Cataract Surgery
Dr. Johanna Jensen perform a type of cataract surgery called phacoemulsification. This surgery is minimally invasive (usually no need for sutures) and requires only topical anesthesia (eye drops) with IV sedation. In phaco surgery, a tiny incision (2.7 mm or less) is made in the cornea and a small ultrasonic probe is inserted to emulsify, or break up the cloudy lens into tiny pieces. Then those pieces are gently aspirated, or vacuumed, from the eye.
Eye Exam
An eye examination is the only way to find changes inside your eye caused by diabetes. Our doctors often diagnose and treat serious retinopathy before patients are aware of vision problems.

The best treatment is prevention of retinopathy. Good blood sugar control reduces the long-term risk of vision loss from diabetes. Smoking will worsen diabetic retinopathy.

Ultrasound
At Jensen Eye Associates, we use the Zeiss IOL Master®, a high-precision instrument revolutionizing all previous techniques and setting a new standard for the measurement of the ocular axis. This instrument gives the most accurate eye measurements possible to ensure success with cataract surgery. Because every person's eyes are unique, like fingerprints, it can be difficult to determine the appropriate specifications of the IOL to be implanted during cataract surgery. The Zeiss IOL Master now provides physicians with information on key ocular measurements such as axial length, corneal curvature and anterior chamber depth, making it possible to choose the right IOL for each patient. Approved by the FDA in 2000, the non-contact IOL Master is the only product in the world that makes these "optical biometry" examinations possible and has proven to be five times more accurate than traditional technologies such as ultrasound.

Reconstructive Surgery
Dr. Caroline Vargason is an Oculofacial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon. She grew up in upstate New York, then traversed the country for medical education. Her specialized training included a two year American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS) Fellowship with Jeff Nerad at the Cincinnati Eye Institute. Dr. Vargason is one of only two ASOPRS-trained surgeons in the Treasure Valley. She is a published author of research articles and textbook chapters in the field.

Plastic Surgery
In 1976, Dr. Jensen joined Jensen Eye Associates; a complete eye care facility in Nampa, Idaho. Dr. Jensen offers comprehensive eye examinations, contact lens fittings, and treatment for glaucoma, retinal problems, diabetic eye problems, dry eye and eye plastic surgery. His goal is to provide the highest quality and most technologically advanced eye care possible. He has performed thousands of eye surgeries in over thirty-eight years.
Blepharoplasty
Blepharoplasty is surgery to remove excess upper and lower eyelid skin which results from injury, aging, or disease. It may be covered by insurance if eye health or vision is affected.

Lesions
Until recently the only available treatment to seal these leaking vessels was with a laser. The earliest treatment was Laser Photocoagulation. This was followed by Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) (a drug injected intravenously and used to help direct the laser to the affected area) and was not suitable for all types of lesions. The blood vessels may again begin to leak and further treatment may be required. The laser treatment itself may cause scarring. Researchers and physicians have looked for a follow -up to this treatment that might maintain vision for a longer period of time without repeated laser use. They are looking for new therapies which would be effective for all types of wet AMD.
