The court hears all misdemeanors, gross misdemeanors, traffic cases, and preliminary hearings in felony cases. District Courts are permitted to hear small claims that do not exceed $5,000, but they do not have jurisdiction to handle cases involving the title to real estate and a few other exceptions.
