Prostatitis is also known as Chronic Pelvic Pain in men. Prostatitis is a term used to describe inflammatory conditions of the prostate gland. It is thought that most cases of prostatitis result from bacterial infection, but evidence of infection is not always found. An infected or inflamed prostate can cause painful urination and ejaculation, urinary frequency and urgency, and if left untreated, chronic, recurrent symptoms.

Bladder cancer usually originates in the bladder lining, which consists of a mucous layer of surface cells. Tumors are categorized as low-stage (superficial) or high-stage (muscle invasive). More than 90% of cases originate in the transitional epithelial cells (transitional cell carcinoma).

We have several quiet rooms with phone and DSL access for CRAs to conduct their monitoring visit and conference rooms. Drugs are stored in double locked cabinets and all regulatory and CRF documents are kept in secure cabinets. Ultrasounds, ECGs and X-rays can be done at our facility. We are equipped to conduct PKA studies, in which the patients are required to stay up to 12 hours on site. A complete radiology suite is located two floors below us.

General Surgery
Dr. Flanagan is the medical director for the urology practice and is a sub-investigator for Connecticut Clinical Research Center. He graduated from Clark University in Massachusetts, then attended the UMDDNJ-Rutgers Medical School in New Jersey where he received his M.D. He served as a general surgery resident at Waterbury Hospital for three years, and then completed four years of specialized training at Temple University in Philadelphia where he served as a chief resident in urology during his last year.
Vasectomy
This is usually done in the course of a fertility evaluation, or to determine if sperm are absent following a vasectomy. Research studies are usually done to evaluate if a study drug has any effect on sperm.

Dr. Moy joined Urology Specialists in 2000 and sees patients with all urological complaints and offers a specialty in pediatric urology. He performs laparoscopic surgery and pediatric microsurgery, as well as minimally invasive prostate surgery.
