One of the most historic and prestigious cemeteries in Miami and, indeed, in the entire southeastern USA, Woodlawn Park Cemetery, at 3260 SW Eighth Street, is the final resting place of some of Miami's premier families and celebrities, including the Brickells, the Peacocks, Coral Gables planner/developer George E. Merrick, and Cuban-American activist Jorge Mas Canosa. Founded in 1913 by T. O. Wilson, this impressive site has earned a reputation for outstanding design, including the notable work of architect McDonald Lovell. Woodlawn Park remains the oldest privately owned cemetery in south Florida, and is documented in the award-winning book *Places in Time: Historic Architecture and Landscapes of Miami (Florida International University, 1994), which confirms that its preservation status was "good" as of the date of publication. The masonry mausoleum (1928), an imposing Gothic-inspired structure with a handsome marble interior, has been cited by architectural historians as "one of the most significant examples of sacred architecture in Dade County."
Given its historical and cultural prominence and the relative scarcity of available spaces, buyers should expect to pay premium costs for burial plots at this location. However, cemetery properties owned by families who have relocated to other cities are sometimes available and may be sold at reasonable rates lower than current market values. These properties are typically advertised on web sites dedicated to the buying and selling of cemetery plots.

I have had the same problem with urns being missing for years from this cemetery. Sometimes they are replaced, sometimes not after I register a complaint. The counselors don't speak good english, but they are trying and that I give them credit for. It is now a bilingual culture down in Miami.
On the plus side, they do place wreaths that you send them to place on the gravesides.
My word to the wise for the woman who got her purse stolen is this. You should have packed the purse in a coat, then put the bundled purse in your car trunk. I am sorry, but the world has become a different place than where we grew up in it 30 years ago.
