Wonderful doctors and staff! They took care of me from the time I arrived until it was time for me leave. They made me feel comfortable, safe, and confident that I was getting the highest quality care for my sinus surgery. The facility was very clean and the entire process was very professional and orderly! (Better than most hospitals!)

Overall

First I'd like to start off by stating that having surgery is not a new occurrence in my life. I have had over 23 since I was 11 years old and I am now 24. I am irate and totally unimpressed by the lack of detail this establishment possesses. Prior surgeries made me aware that I am allergic to adhesive glues and tape, and not just any allergy but a progressive one. Progressive meaning every time I am exposed my reactions become worse. Having dealt with the pain and itching before, it is a routine that I have started to tell every person I speak with prior to my surgery date and day of surgery of my allergies. Upon being brought back to begin getting prepped for surgery I continued to tell every person. As my nurses were setting up my IV a nurse (who in my opinion has as much responsibility as my doctor to keep me safe and make sure the procedure goes well) began to put ADHESIVE tape over my IV. I quickly noticed and questioned if the material was paper tape, which is all I can use, and not at all to my surprise it was indeed adhesive tape. The nurse shook it off as if it had just "slipped" her mind and that it was no big deal. I then questioned where my red allergy band was, her response... "I was just about to put that on you." SO this woman had already been made aware as well as personally writing that I was highly allergic on this band. This extremely important detail happened to slip the mind of the staff members I am suppose to trust while I am under anesthesia??? I find that unacceptable. Now I'm getting to the part that I feel is 100% absolutely t-totally careless and scary. Two days after surgery I am laying on my couch when I start to notice that my incision sites underneath the gauze pads were beginning to itch and burn. Low and behold after removing all bandages I find each and every one of my incision sites were covered with not one but two adhesive stripes. The question I am left with is why is it not mandatory everyone upon entering the room read that allergy band at least one time??? I had whelps/burns over every single incision. So on top of being in excruciating pain I was itching so bad calamine lotion and hydrocortisone cream would not calm the reaction. What would happen when someone is deathly allergic to a medicine and it "slips" these employees minds again? This establishment is a disgrace to good, thorough medical centers everywhere. I will NEVER return or refer someone to use this place.
