Went to this particular shop because I just happened to be in the area and had an hour to kill before heading nearby an appt I had nearby.I was a little worried after I checked my car in that I might had made a mistake because he looked quite busy and I didn't want to run late for my appointment but no sooner then I sat down n read a few magazines he returned to say I had passed and my car was ready.really hassle free and I'm glad I wasn't late cuz I had an interview and GOT the job. :)

from a prior diagnosis i thought i had to change out my rear o2 sensor and received what i thought was a great estimate from them ($110/part & $45/labor). i went there and had them diagnose my truck one more time just in case and was told that it turned out to be that my front o2 sensor was the problem (check engine light on). in my attempt to compare and shop around estimates/prices, i was told by other mechanics that it DID matter which o2 sensor (front or rear) wasn't working and that it would cost more to replace the front sensor. with that said, i was anticipating the cost of the part to go up. now this is where it gets shady....
he realizes that it's not the rear o2 sensor and decides that he needs to call "someone" to figure out the price of the part which he tells me he thinks he can get it for the same amount as the rear o2 sensor. i watch him as he is supposedly talking to whoever it is on the phone and it becomes apparent by his actions that the part won't cost the same. i ask how much the part would cost and he says $250.00 and so i continued and asked how much the labor will be on top of that? so, he goes and starts working on numbers and tells me the tax will be about $13.00 and that he just make it $263.00. so basically charging me for the part and tax. i guess this is where i should have been like...hmm..this is too good to be true!, but i figured he saw that i was a new customer to the shop and that he would have the business savvy of wanting my future business! MY MISTAKE...
what ended up happening was he charged me $150/part and $100/labor. now you do the math?!! it barely took him 15 min to replace the sensor which i regretfully know i could have done myself. bummer. later went back to BOBBY'S SMOG ON LA CIENEGA (ACE AUTO) to give him a piece of my mind and unsuccessfully get a piece of my money back! brotha didn't accomodate.
