Ants are perhaps the most successful insect, and one of the most successful members of the animal kingdom on earth. Ants live practically everywhere, but are most abundant in warm climates. There are about 10,000 species of ants. Within each species, there are usually many different types.
Spiders
Few creatures are as feared and misunderstood as spiders. For the most part, spiders are harmless and generally beneficial to us, by keeping insect populations in check. Spiders are seldom aggressive and bite only when threatened or injured. Few spiders bite people, and the venom of most is harmless.
Termites
Concerned about Termites? Regional Pest Management's Platinum Home Service Plan is the perfect plan for you! It includes everything in our GOLD plan ( See that plan here ) PLUS a preventative termite treatment.
Bed Bugs
Bed bugs are increasingly becoming a problem within residences of all kinds, including homes, apartments, hotels and motels, hospitals, cruise ships, college dormitories, Assisted Living facilities, nursing homes and homeless shelters.
Fleas
The black rat is economically important in terms of damaging food stores and as a transmitter of diseases like the bubonic plague, typhus, food poisoning, and trichinosis. Rat-borne diseases are thought to have taken more human lives in the last ten centuries than all the wars and revolutions ever fought. One subspecies, Rattus rattus brevicaudatus, has even caused famines. It consumes and destroys food stores and carries epidemics and diseases with its fleas, urine, and dirt. Black rats gnaw through insulation from electrical wires, sometimes causing fires. They also kill poultry, domestic livestock, and game birds. Through predation and competition, they have contributed to the endangerment or extinction of many species of wildlife.
Cockroaches
Cockroaches are among the most hated insects. Their presence in the home is offensive and implies uncleanliness. Cockroaches contaminate food and leave an unpleasant odor. They also can transmit diseases.
Bees
As a company, we have taken a stance to protect our environment and while we kill most bugs, we think it is extremely important to make sure bees are protected. Therefore, our mosquito and tick program is 100% green, and does not affect bees. This solution is garlic-based and will be applied every three weeks for the first two months and then monthly after.
Wasps
Enemies of the cellar spider are birds, wasps and people. Cellar spiders like to spin spider silk. The spider's legs are so thin that people can hardly tell the difference between the legs and the web. Cellar spiders will twist their bodies back and forth so fast that their bodies become blurred. This makes them hard to see. If they accidentally fall from the web, they run in a wobbly fashion, like a drunk, so that they cannot be seen easily.
Ticks
Our Gold Plan includes everything in the silver plan ( here is that plan ), but it also ensures that your family is protected from mosquitos and ticks throughout the spring, summer, and early fall.
Crickets
Mosquitoes
Our solution is garlic based, so it is safe for your family, pets, and bees! Since mosquitoes are soft-bodied insects, the garlic juice can be very toxic to them in increased concentrations. The odor of garlic chases them away for as long as they can detect the odor. The odor of sprayed garlic juice becomes undetectable to humans within minutes, but mosquitoes can detect odor as much as 10,000 times better than a human. So even though you can't smell the garlic, they can and they will stay away from the sprayed area!
Flies
Sewer odors emanating from floor drains often cause a nasty smell. Drains can become a doorway for pests such as flies, cockroaches and rodents!
Beetles
Termites feed mainly on wood or other materials containing cellulose. The cellulose is partially digested by protozoans living symbiotically in the intestines of the worker. Enzymes produced by the protozoans break down the cellulose into components that can be assimilated by the termites. Digested cellulose is distributed by the workers to members lacking the protozoans. Some species feed on vegetable molds that they cultivate. Others obtain a fluid secreted by beetles known as termitophiles, that live as guests within the termite community.
Hornets
Moths
Some "orb-weavers" do not build webs at all. Members of the genera Mastophora in the Americas, Cladomelea in Africa and Ordgarius in Australia produce sticky globules, which contain a pheromone analog. The globule is hung from a silken thread dangled by the spider from its front legs. The pheromone analog attracts male moths of only a few species. These get stuck on the globule and are reeled in to be eaten. Interestingly, both types of bolas spiders are highly camouflaged and difficult to locate.
Mites
Aphids
The pavement ant is a small, brown to black ant with pale legs and a black abdomen. Pavement ants feed on a variety of materials, including live and dead insects, honeydew from aphids, meats, grease, etc. They often enter houses looking for food. They may become numerous in a short period of time in a kitchen or outside on a patio.
Firebrats
Brown recluse spiders are nocturnal and prefer foods such as firebrats, crickets, cockroaches and other soft bodied creatures. Earning their name well, the recluse spider ceases its wanderings at first light. People are most commonly bitten in bed, while changing clothes, or cleaning storage areas. Not only will this spider hide in cracks and crevices of the home, they will also often climb into clothing or shoes that someone has laid out to wear the following day.
It is also possible for bats or birds to introduce and maintain bed bug colonies, so if you have bats or birds removed from your home, it may be necessary to make sure that bed bugs, other blood-feeding insects, or mites have not been left behind!
Moles
Moles can do great damage to lawns, gardens, golf greens, farms, parks and playing fields. Here's a bit of information on just what they can do...
Wildlife
When wildlife enters your home or business, your Regional Pest Management specialist will identify the entry point and install a one-way barrier on the opening. This will allow the animal to leave the structure to forage for food, but prevent it from re-entering when it comes back. We will return after three days to remove the one-way door and seal the entry point with non-corrosive material.
Regional Pest Management is licensed in Maryland, Delaware and Virginia to perform bird control. We will inspect your home or business for roosting areas and nest sites that the birds are using. We will then develop a strategy to exclude the birds from the structure.
It starts with a rodent entry analysis report that reviews the exterior of your home and identifies any possible ways rodents can enter your home.
Mice
House mice do not cause such serious health and economic problems as Rattus norvegicus and R. rattus. Mice are agricultural pests in some areas, however, and they do consume and contaminate stored human food with their droppings. They also destroy woodwork, furniture, uphostery, and clothing. In addition, they contribute to the spread of diseases such as murine typhus, rickettsial pox, tularemia, food poisoning (Salmonella), and bubonic plague.
Rats
During its daily activities, a mouse normally travels an area averaging 10 to 30 feet in diameter, seldom traveling further than this to obtain food or water. Mice constantly explore and learn about their environment, memorizing the locations of pathways, obstacles, food and water, shelter and other elements in their domain. They quickly detect new objects in their environment, but they do not fear novel objects, as do rats.
Squirrels
Chipmunks
We also offer tick boxes that can be placed around your yard. These tick boxes help kill the immature stages of ticks when they feed on mice or chipmunks.
