Teeth Cleaning

Fillings
Gentle Dentistry chooses to use tooth-colored fillings (composite resin) exclusively, as opposed to silver mercury fillings. The preparation (removal of decay and surrounding tooth structure) of the tooth for a composite filling is more conservative than for an amalgam filling. Our doctors believe that leaving more of your own tooth is best.
Resin Composite
With bonding, we can change the color, shape and size of your teeth. We can close gaps and fix broken edges. We actually bond a material, called composite resin, to your tooth. The material comes in many different shades and opacities and can be mixed and matched to beautifully compliment your teeth and the smile that you desire.
Veneers
Porcelain veneers are "new fronts" for your teeth. Some preparation of the teeth is usually necessary, and an impression is made. Our lab uses information provided by our doctors to design porcelain facings that will be bonded to your teeth. It takes the lab about two weeks to do their work. Until the porcelain ones are ready, you will have temporary veneers made by our doctors to match your desired new smile. At a second visit, the porcelain veneers are tried on for your approval and then bonded in place.
Crowns
A tooth can only hold so much filling material. When you have more filling than tooth and you need something stronger, a bonded porcelain restoration may be the best choice. A custom made porcelain crown or onlay replaces only the missing and weak areas of your tooth. Healthy areas are left alone. The porcelain is bonded to your tooth. This leaves more of your natural tooth structure than a cemented crown would. Gentle Dentistry's favorite material for an onlay or crown is an all porcelain bonded restoration created with CAD/CAM right in our office. There is no metal in the restoration to block the reflection of light, so it looks like a real tooth. Also, the gum tissue stays healthier when there isn't any artificial material at the gum line, like there is with a conventional porcelain and metal crown.
Bridges
All-on-4 is the modern solution for all missing teeth. This treatment concept replaces your missing teeth with a full dental bridge supported by only four dental implants. With less implants needed, overall treatment time is reduced. The unique All-on-4 solution also ensures greater stability in the bone, reducing the need for bone graft surgery to increase bone volume. Typically we can place temporary provisional teeth on the same day after treatment. These provisional teeth look and feel much like natural teeth, and you can lead a normal life immediately after surgery. After a few weeks healing time, we will place your final bridge. Your quality of life is improved and you can start enjoying your favorite foods again. You have a choice between a fixed or a removable final replacement arch. This special implant, anchored at an angle, offers improved support and stability for your replacement arch.

Cosmetic correction by bonding is a way to add to your tooth or teeth. Bonding has been around for a while, but it keeps getting better and better. It's stronger, easier to place, and yields more perfect results, all without sacrificing tooth enamel.

At General Dentistry of Las Colinas, we make a custom fit tray from a mold of your teeth. The tray holds the bleaching solution in contact with your teeth. Usually, you wear the trays and solution for an hour a day, for about 4 weeks. If you are in a hurry, we can whiten your teeth faster using our power bleaching solution in the office. When choosing power bleaching, we also provide the trays for touching up bleaching as time and dark foods and drinks will restain your teeth.
