Divorce
Going through a divorce can be stressful and emotionally draining. It often involves courtroom appearances and financial obligations. Your most intimate problems are aired in the courtroom which is open to complete strangers. If you and your spouse/ partner desire privacy and dignity in the negotiating of your divorce or modification proceedings, consider collaborative divorce.
Child Support
There are several different child support calculation schemes used by different states across the nation. Some look at the income of both parties in establishing child support. Others look only at the income of the non-custodial parent in doing so. Texas falls in the latter group.
Child Custody and Visitation
Today, even after the granting of a divorce or the signing of a parentage order establishing the parentage of a child where DNA testing was not previously done, a man can, under certain limited circumstances, come back to court, demand DNA testing, and have that order of parentage, child custody, possession and access and support of the child overturned.
Adoption
Paternity
Life and people “move on” after significant events. Following a divorce or after the entry of a parentage order establishing paternity and setting child support, the parents may remarry and have other children or have other children of other non-marital relationships. That often raises the question about the appropriateness and actual payment of the child support amount set in the first order.
Premarital Agreement
Ms. Broussard is trained in the skill of Collaborative Law, which is essentially a negotiation model the goal of which is to keep parties to a dispute out of court. It can take the form of a collaborative divorce or a collaborative modification or a collaborative marital or premarital agreement. The process applies in any situation where the parties desire to keep their negotiations private (out of the public eye) and confidential and wish to avoid the expense of litigation.
