Immunizations

Currently this vaccine is FDA-approved between the ages of 9 and 26. This vaccine is important to help lower the risk of developing cervical cancer as well as vulvar cancer and genital warts. HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) is extremely common and approximately 80% of sexually active people have been exposed. There are many different strains of HPV and the while there is no vaccine against all strains, Gardasil is effective against types 16/18 which cause 70% of cervical cancers as well as against types 6/11 which cause 90% of genital warts.
