Wonderful service

My family and I were heading to Florence from Albany on Sunday (8-4) when our car started acting up and basically stopped running. We were towed into River Road Automotive (we had never met the owner Wade), dropped off the car and left for vacation. Called Wade on Monday to explain what was taking place--he called back that night stating the car had not had the same problem again...he asked if he could continue driving my car additionally to see if issue was recreated. Called back the next day and it still had not happened again. He then said he would run the engine extensively and then drive it as the problem seemed to occur after the engine was hot. The problem as we explained it to him was then very apparent. Many times if someone is from out of town, it could be easy to take advantage of them as they are "somewhat stuck". We never felt this way at all. Wade took the time to diagnose this issue when he could have simply said that he couldn't find the problem. He worked extensively to locate the issue and was so professional the complete time. He was communicative, helpful, fair and kind. We thank him so much for all of his assistance in this issue. If we lived in Eugene, I would go to him without second thought and would definitely refer him to friends and family.

Regarding "taken advantage of"

There is a logic flaw in this complaint. The writer states she took her car in and did not have the money to fix the problem. This is understandable. However, then she states it took her a while (apparently a long while) to scrape together $60 for a diagnostics fee. This indicates the writer never had any intention of paying to get the car fixed, no matter what the cost, but instead expected FREE LABOR of the diagnostics. Furthermore, someone who owns a BMW cannot expect to successfully play the pity card as "a single mother." If indeed there was any altercation involving the wife, maybe what the owner was trying to express was that the wife wished the customers would pay their bills, so she too could afford to have THE WRITER'S car: a BMW.I took my car (a Honda) into the shop today. It was fixed professionally in four hours, at minimal cost, and I was treated well. Therefore, I am giving a rating of 5 stars.

One star is overrating River Road Automotive. Don't waste your time or hard earned $$$

I took my BMW into River Road Automotive in dire need of assistance. It was overheating and I had no idea what to do. The owner advised me the next day that the head gasket was blown and the radiator needed to be replaced. He gave me a quote of around $2,250. I didn't have the $2,250 to repair the head gasket and the radiator. The owner told me that I would need to pay him $60 for a diagnostics charge. I am a single mother of toddler, a two year old to be exact, and money is tight. When I scraped the $60 together, literally, he then advised me he was charging me $250 for storage fees. Granted, it had been awhile but he knew it was gonna take a little while for me to get the diagnostics money together. At that point, he said "my wife really wants me to charge you $650 for storage, so now her and I are fighting about it." I apologized to him for creating an argument between him and his spouse. Finally, today, I was able to get the $249 together and went to pick up my car. He handed me back the letter from DMV because he intended on taking the title TOMORROW because I was having a hard time getting the $250 together. My friend interjected in the middle of the conversation and asked where I signed to be charged X amount and at who's discretion were the charges being assessed. My friend also added that we would be seeing him in court because she felt he was taking advantage of me. The OWNER then tried to rip the DMV paper back out of my hands SCREAMING "MY WIFE REALLY WANTS TO HAVE YOUR CAR." So basically this place is a JOKE of a repair shop and if you can't afford to fix your car, he will jack the prices up so that his WIFE can have your car. Professionalism= 0. Quality of business= 0. Morals, ethics and values = -20. TAKE MY ADVICE AND TAKE YOUR CAR ANYWHERE BUT HERE.
