Dental Examination

X-rays
At your first visit you will receive a complete dental cleaning from one of our experienced dental hygienists. One of the doctors will then review your medical and dental history, while getting to know you and your unique needs. He or she will then perform a comprehensive dental examination – including dental x-rays if necessary – as well as a head and neck soft-tissue exam to screen for things such as oral cancer.

Bridges
The most common use for a dental implant is to replace a single missing tooth. Historically, the best way to replace a missing tooth was with a dental bridge. A bridge uses the teeth on either side of the space as supports for replacement of the missing tooth. This requires us to grind down those teeth to make room for the bridge. With dental implant treatment the teeth on either side of the space do not have to be touched because the support for the new crown comes from the implant within the bone. It is a self-supporting structure. This also decreases the chance of needing replacement in the future due to breakage or decay of teeth on either side of the space.

Root Canal Treatment
The purpose of a root canal treatment is to clean, disinfect and seal off the inside of a tooth. It allows an infected or permanently damaged tooth to be saved instead of extracted.

Periodontal Surgery
For some patients, regular cleanings are not sufficient to control periodontal disease. There are many treatment options available for control of periodontal disease, including scaling and root planing as well as periodontal surgery.
Deep Cleaning
Scaling/root planing is the first line of treatment for mild to moderate periodontal disease. We usually describe it as a deep cleaning. It is typically done over two or more appointments in order for the hygienist to thoroughly clean every surface of every tooth.

Dentists have been making conventional dentures for centuries but they have inherent disadvantages. They cause bone loss over time by sitting on top of the oral tissues and applying a constant pressing force. Dentures also tend to feel unnatural due to the fact that they are removable. They have to be big and bulky in order to be sufficiently strong.
