He went to the University of Washington School of Dentistry where he pursued an interest in dental implants and worked in the Dental Fears Research Clinic. During his senior year he was elected class president and was honored by speaking during the graduation ceremony. After dental school he moved to Boise and was selected for the inaugural class of the Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency program through Idaho State University. This program taught him complex, comprehensive dentistry and helped develop his talent for esthetic dentistry.
