Yes. A tooth with a crown will move just like a tooth with a simple filling. When teeth are missing, orthodontic treatment will aid in the alignment of the remaining teeth.

Dentures
You may also use denture cleaner or alcohol free mouthwash to soak your retainer. This will keep it smelling fresh and prevent the buildup of bacteria. Alcohol and abrasive cleaners can damage your retainer, however, and great care should be taken when using this method.

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Oral Surgery
Most conditions are easier and faster to treat at an early stage, because the natural growth process is still active. A palatal expander, for example, is often able to fully treat crossbites in children because their jaw is still growing and shifting. If left untreated, an adult with a severe crossbite may require expensive and lengthy oral surgery in order to achieve the same result.
Jaw Surgery
Corrective jaw surgery (orthognathic surgery) treats and corrects abnormalities of the facial bones, specifically the jaws and the teeth. Often, these abnormalities cause difficulty associated with chewing, talking, sleeping and other routine activities. Orthognathic surgery corrects these problems and, in conjunction with orthodontic treatment, will improve the overall appearance of the facial profile.

Braces
Generally, braces do not “hurt.” After certain visits, teeth may be sore for a few days. In these situations, pain medications such as Advil or Tylenol will ease the discomfort. However, after most visits, patients do not feel any soreness at all! We often remind our patients, “It does not have to hurt to work!”
