Greedy, Nasty and Deceitful: in my opinion, the owner and employees of John’s Auto Service Center are all of that and more. The starter went out in my car, and a friend recommended this shop to repair it because he knew the shop manager. So I had my car towed to their location, but only then did we discover that the old (honest) shop manager had quit in disgust, and the owner had taken over day to day management. The shop told me they wanted $356.00 to replace the starter. I had already purchased a NEW starter for $140.00 with a lifetime warranty to be installed in my car. The mechanic at John’s said he would not use the NEW starter, because he wanted to sell me a REBUILT starter for $245.00 with no warranty. When I asked why he would not use my NEW starter, the mechanic said, “the owner does that.” When I asked why their rebuilt starter was over $100 than my NEW starter the mechanic said, “the owner charges that.” When I asked why removing two nuts and two bolts (the starter is low in front and easy to get to) would cost $100 in labor the mechanic said, “the owner charges that.” I called MIDAS and asked them how much they would charge me and they said $240 with tax and that included a lifetime warranty on the starter. I talked to the owner, who was a nasty human being, and his position was, “your car doesn’t start what you going to do?” I’ll tell you what I did: I paid to have my car towed away from that scummy place, took it to MIDAS and with the extra tow, it was still cheaper than John’s Auto Service Center, and a whole lot safer and cleaner.

The most (if not the ONLY) honest mechanic I've dealt with. If I can tow, push or otherwise drag my car to John's - I do.

I'm a young woman and the cars I drive tend to be on the older and junkier side. I'm used to being treated poorly by mechanics and I'm sure I've been taken for a ride a few times.

1. I've never once felt ripped off or condescended to at John's.

2, I've taken my car to John after having a different mechanic tell me I needed something done and had him tell me not only do I not need it done but I don't even have to pay him for his time to look at it.

3. I've taken my car to John because it was making a funny noise or just acting weird where he could have told me ANYTHING and been told that my car is fine and again, not charging for his time.

4. When I do have problems, his prices are always extraordinarily reasonable. He clearly delineates what the cost is going to be in advance and if something more expensive can be "put off" or worked around he'll tell me and work with me on a plan of action.

Being someone who's not extraordinarily knowledgeable about cars I always check prices and what needs to be done with friends and family and almost everyone says his prices are a bargain (for having someone else do it). I've only had one person who DIDN'T tell me that his prices are the best they've seen from a mechanic and that is someone who always goes to the cheapest mechanic regardless of quality or known honesty.

I would recommend John to anyone who isn't knowledgeable about cars or has to drive older cars and doesn't have much money to spare.

The only problem I have is his hours are limited (which means I need to take off work) and sometimes he gets really busy and can't take my car for a day or so.

We have used John's Auto to service and repair our 14' box truck for the past 8 1/2 years. Knowing that the truck is used for donation pick ups and furniture deliveries, they never fail to get the truck up and running as quickly as possible. John's is great about giving us a quote before doing the work and having the work completed in the shortest time possible. Call Lonnie or John when you need automotive work done; you won't regret it!
