Sam K. Eck has 44 years of general practice as a private practitioner and corporate counsel predominately engaged in civil litigation and estate planning. He is admitted to the bar in the State of Washington, the State of Colorado, and the State of Texas. He is also admitted to practice before the federal courts in Washington, Colorado, and Texas. For the last 22 years, his practice has primarily been in the area of estate planning, the resolution of contested estate matters including wills & trusts and the probate process. Sam provides his clients the necessary advice and support to develop a complete estate plan. This includes information about revocable living trusts and other vehicles to transfer assets on the death of the client. In Sam's experience, too many estate planning attorneys are unfamiliar with trusts and prefer to only advise concerning wills which generate probate fees for the attorney to the detriment of the client. Estate preservation and tax savings are key elements in the overall plan. Sam has drafted wills, trusts, corporations, partnerships, limited liability companies, real estate deeds and other supporting documentation to implement his client's estate plans. Sam lives in Sammamish with his wife, Mary Jo. They have two children, Michael and Emily. Sam is proud to represent Bellevue, Seattle, Redmond and Kirkland.

Wills
Washington law does require the last will of a Washington resident decedent to be filed promptly following death. Regardless of whether the decedent's estate will be probated, the will should be filed with the Clerk's Office of the Superior court of decedent's resident county at death, and generally within forty days of the decedent's death.
Trusts

Power of Attorney
A power of attorney is allows people to appoint someone to make key financial and/or medical decisions on their behalf. A financial power of attorney allows someone to handle as many or as few legal or financial areas as you wish including banking, insurance, real estate, etc. A financial power of attorney can become effective immediately or upon your disability.?? A medical power of attorney allows someone to handle your medical decisions for you when you cannot make your own except to override your health care directive.?? A power of attorney can be revised or revoked at any time.
