Root Canal Treatment
Dr. Wan went on to specialize in Endodontics by completing a two-year post-doctoral residency at the Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine at Boston University where he earned a Certificate in Advanced Graduate Studies (CAGS) in Endodontics. During his residency, he was trained to treat complex root canal under a dental operating microscope and perform endodontic microsurgery. He also treated patients at the Veterans Affairs Hospital, and the Boston University faculty practice, both in Boston, MA, in addition to practicing part-time privately in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
Apicoectomy
Generally, a root canal is all that is needed to save teeth with injured pulp from extraction. Occasionally this non-surgical procedure will not be sufficient to heal the tooth and your endodontist will recommend surgery. Endodontic surgery can be used to locate fractures or hidden canals that do not appear on x-rays but still manifest pain in the tooth.
