Paul Boyce, MD, MPH, is a native of the island of Trinidad & Tobago, his journey to becoming a doctor began when he entered the Honors Program at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. His main clinical interest is pulmonary hypertension, sarcoidosis, and exercise physiology, in addition to asthma, occupational lung diseases, bronchiectasis and smoking cessation. Dr. Boyce is the Medical Director of the only certified Pulmonary Hypertension Program in the state of Georgia.

Lung Cancer
My journey with Dr. L begins in February 2016 after a CAT scan determined I probably had lung cancer. Because my internist, who ordered the CAT scan, had great experiences with Pulmonary & Critical Care of Atlanta in the past, he gave them a call immediately and got me scheduled to see Dr. L fairly quick. I was very glad they were able to accommodate me on such short notice.

Abubakr Chaudhry, MD is a third generation physician. Growing up, he watched his father connect with his patients on a personal level and truly care for their wellbeing and health. This commitment to his patients is what Dr. Chaudhry strives for in his own care for his patients. Individualized, compassionate care means that he strives to make sure that his patientâ€™s voice is heard, that all of their questions and concerns are addressed and that as a team, he and his patient develop a care plan to help maximize the patientâ€™s health. Dr. Chaudhry enjoys pursuing research that will advance the future of pulmonary care. His work has been presented at national conferences and published in premier academic journals. His clinical and research interests include pulmonary hypertension, pulmonary vascular diseases, interstitial lung diseases and interventional pulmonary medicine. His expertise includes specialized procedures including navigational bronchoscopy and endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS). He is currently the Medical Director of Quality and Patient Safety at Northside. When Dr. Chaudhry is not treating patients, he studies mixed martial arts and participates in triathlons.
Radiology
Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related death in the United States. Early identification of this disease is important, because when patients are diagnosed early, they have a much more positive outcome compared to patients who do not receive an early diagnosis. NHCI is able to provide access to lung cancer screenings from more than 40 locations. The Lung Cancer Screening Program at NHCI is a recognized Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology.

Dr. Lâ€™s office help set up an appointment with the surgeon who removed my upper right lobe. He picked a great surgeon, and I am appreciative of his guidance in my cancer journey. I know Dr. L chose this surgeon because of his skill-set, but as Dr. L and I were getting to know each other better, I feel like he chose this surgeon because he knew we would be of like minds and that as a team of three, it would be pretty heard to deny anything other than total success. And Iâ€™m thrilled to report it was! In the end, I had my upper right lobe removed and the lymph node biopsies indicated no further spread! I was thankful that this meant no chemotherapy and no radiationâ€”just post-op CAT scans that show my lungs are â€œcrystal clear.â€
