The last time I took my dogs here, they kept telling me they were not ready. Finally I went int and my dogs were howling (which they have never done). I got them home only to find a couple of hours later a huge gash on my dogs face that had been smoothed over with hair to hide it. It was bloody and deep. He was clearly traumatized. FOR YOUR DOG'S SAFETY DO NOT TAKE THEM HERE.

While the service was not rude, it wasnt overly friendly either. Thats ok if the work is done well. Unfortunately, it wasnt. I took my Shepherd/Husky mix in. Stated he didnt need his nails or any extras done. He just needed a bath and a really good blow out and brushing. *He is in the midst of shedding season* I pick him up, sign my credit card slip with tip before I see him. Big mistake. My pup was in a kennel with normal fans pointed at him. When taken out, it was obvious he barely, if at all, had been brushed...and surely not blown out. He was still damp also. So now I am going to have to spend my night brushing him out, doing what I paid them to do. AND they were more expensive then the other groomers in the area. Never EVER again.

The location is convenient, which is the only reason I continue to use their services. Although now I've been using other places, thank God. They do know what they're doing and usually have great grooming services. BUT, the customer service is ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. I understand that these owners do know a lot about maintenance and care, but so do I. If you come in with anything other than a perfect looking dog, more than likely you're greeted with an eye roll. I do not want to be belittled by them because "my dog's fur is matted". Isn't that the whole purpose of coming to a groomer? And a good one at that? I've also found issues every time with coming in for nail trimmings. I have small dogs, and each time they've been very aggressive with them. And they always look completely inconvenienced if they cry/bark. They don't have a friendly tone to them whatsoever. It's ridiculous. I don't understand how you can operate any type of business if you can't work with people. Or have the most basic manners.

I have an Akita/Chow his hair was horrible the chow hair was in clumps all over his body. I have had him for 6 years and have been doing his hair myself because I do not trust people with my dogs. When I first walked in my dog was extremely scared and I almost walked out. I talked to the owner and he seemed knowledgable but I didn't get that warm customer service vibe, but I thought he was proffessional and all business, I was worried because my dog is my child so you want to feel that warm, comfortable vibe with a person who is going to be grooming him. However, when I picked him up he looked awesome! I have never seen him look that good ever! I thought the owners were very knowledgable, had great prices and did an awesome job. I will be taking my dog back there every month. I would highly recommend this groomer

I have taken my dog to this business twice and both times I have not received good customer service. The head groomer acted as if it was an imposition for me to tell them how I wanted my dog's hair cut. The first time he was practically scalped, and so I brought a picture the second time. She refused to look at it. She is rude and that is not acceptable to me. I will not bring my dog to be groomed here again.

I've been taking my dog to Canterbury Tails for years. They treat my boy like he is their own. They are always kind and helpful
and my dog is always excited to see them.
I've seen them spot something wrong with a animal and they make sure that the owner knows about it. If it is something the owner can take care of at home, they tell them. This information can save the owner an expensive trip to the vet.
I highly recommend Canterbury Tail if you want an experience and caring groomer.

The Williamsons are very knowledgeable people with extensive experience with animals and grooming. They raise champion long-haired dachshunds and have judged kennel club competitions so they really know their stuff. Vets, pet shops, and animal shelters have been recommending Meg and Keith to their clients for years, because they know Canterbury Tails will provide the best service. They're great people. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

I have been there a few times, and EVERY TIME the owner was rude, to say the least. He has a VERY aggressive manner, which is not what I want for someone who is caring for and handling my pet! He openly YELLED at me in front of the pets, and other customers! Obviously he didn't care about getting the pets upset or more anxious than they already are while being groomed, because he was yelling and carrying on even as I walked out the door! I told him that this is the third time he has been rude to me, and that I will never go there again, and his comment was "Fine. Go somewhere else!" That is EXACTLY what I plan to do, and would tell everyone else to do the same.

I called to get prices and the man that answer the phone was extremely rude. He sighed when I asked him questions....Kept putting me on hold because he couldn't answer my simple questions. When I told him I had a yorkipoo puppy...He said " Ooooh those are hyper and highly nervous dogs and this is her first haircut (like he was scared of her or something)" Isn't that the point of taking your dog to get groomed by a professional. As a business owner I was offended by thier lack of professionalism and basic manners. I was happy to take my dog to another Allen Park groomer who was happy to take her. We bring her there everyother month to get trimmed....I guess that is revenue Canterbury Tails weren't interested in....Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere

I absolutely LOVE the groomers at Canterbury Tails. We rescued a dog a few years ago and he was in really bad shape.
Lots of mats and filthy! You could not see his face because he was so overgrown and matted. The animal shelter gave us
the number to Canterbury Tails and they took the dog immediately. When we came back to pick him up, he was BEAUTIFUL! They are so loving and generous, it's unfortunate that somebody wrote a negative review after one brief phone call. I will never take my animals to any other groomer EVER! You can't judge this business on one phone call. Talking on the phone is not what the specialize in....caring for our pets IS! I have never experienced rudeness of any kind from the owners or their staff. It's a shame that somebody would write a review like that from a stupid phone call, it made me very sad to see that. If you have pets and you think of them like family, you can trust Canterbury Tails to take excellent care of them.
Thank you for you kind words and continued support of our business. We look forward to your business in the future.

I called this shop to inquire about grooming for my elderly cat. She needed a nail trim and some mats shaved off her stomach. The man I spoke with was very curt and said that the groomer would not touch my cat because they did not want "to have her die on their table". He then very rudely told me I would need a doctor's note for them to do anything to her. Even though I understood their 'concern' about my cat's age, the manner in which they communicated it was insenstive to say the least. I would not take a young, healthy animal to this establishment.
Dear Steamed Sorry that you felt the owner was curt but after you informed the owner that your cat had not seen a veterinarian in at least 10 yrs, not only did he feel that it was unsafe for the cat to be groomed but unsafe for our groomers to work on an unvaccinated cat. We sincerely hope that you found a groomer who would work with your conditions.
