Albemarle City Public Works Department provides safe streets and rights-of-way within the city of Albemarle, N.C. The department operates a sanitary landfill for use by all residents and businesses. The department also provides services necessary for the operation of other city departments. Its Adopt-a-City-street program provides individuals and organizations an opportunity to become involved in the beautification of the city. It contracts with waste management to provide solid waste collection services for residents of the city. The citizens can get curb and gutter installed on street and street paving by the developer of neighborhood and by petitioning the city to do so.
