Who would like their pet in a 'safe environment' while at a dog day care?
Who would like to know that their pet is receiving the best care while not in their care?
Who would like to know that their dog had A FUN, AND ENJOYABLE TIME?
If you would like your dog in a "loving" environment that you do NOT have to worry about, then take them to The Barka Lounge Doggie Day Care in Shelby Township!
This facility is more of a "Boutique -ish, quaint, and loving" facility for ALL dogs small and LARGE!! They are sure to come home exhausted and at the same time, ready for their next visit!!

I have been taking my dog, Allie, here for about a year and I would not go anywhere else. Jennifer has always taken good care of Allie and she looks amazing when I come to pick her up!

Overall

I have taken my dog here for the past couple of months and my dog loves it! She is a lab mix and she gets plenty of excercise and she comes home and she is wiped out! There are a couple of things that I really like about The Barka Lounge. First is they are not a huge place and feel that my dog gets more human interaction rather than just being lost in a group of dogs. Second, the owner really gets to know your dog. She will tell us what our dog has done during the day and she notices the little things about our dog. It is good to see she really cares about our Bella! And Bella is always excited to see her. I would highly recommend The Barka Lounge to take your dogs to for daycare!

This place is a strip mall bas...

This place is a strip mall based, walk-in closet for dogs. When you walk in, there is about a 10ft walk in space that leads up to the counter, and behind the wall, there are two "pens" for the different sized dogs. We recently took our pet there due to a Groupon that we purchased, and figured that it was such a good deal that we'd give it a shot. Big mistake. We have a larger dog (American Staffordshire mix), and take him to doggy day cares on days where we either have a prior commitment in the evening, or we feel like the dog deserves a day of play, as a way of keeping him active, and I'd say that this place did nothing to accomplish our goals. Upon picking him up for the day, the person working (I'm assuming the manager, as it is the woman in the profile picture) told me that our dog "wasn't a fit" there. When asking her for an explanation, I wasn't offered anything valid other than that he was trying to play with the other dogs, and that it was making her uncomfortable. She emphasized that it wasn't violent, it wasn't agressive, or anything of that nature. To say that the conversation was awkward would be an understatement. Picture breaking up with an overly emotional boyfriend/girlfriend in middle/high school, and that was how she was talking to me. I tried to coax reasoning out of her, and everytime I offered something up, she quickly interrupted and said "no, I just don't think he's a fit" or something of the like. Honestly, I wasn't upset, or disappointed, because my wife took him there in the morning, so I hadn't had the chance to see the place until arriving to pick him up, and from the looks of it, I wouldn't have let him spend the day there anyway. The place was clean, but didn't have that "fun" atmosphere that say a Camp Bow Wow has for him. The fact that it was in a strip mall also had me concerned that there was no outdoor/grassy area for him to run, or even to use the bathroom. Overall, I'd give this place a 1/5, and would only take a dog there if it is small or highly inactive, as the vibe that I got from her was that she wasn't capable of or interested in having dogs there that like to actually play, instead looking to be a glorified babysitter for dogs that involve no responsibility whatsoever. If you're a dog lover like we are, then honestly, you could do a lot better, for both yourself AND your pet.

I would like to state that this customer was told exactly why his dog could not return to The Barka Lounge. I am sorry if he didn't like to hear that his dog was too agressive. When I told him this, he was totally understanding of this and said it could be because his dog plays with his Mother's two Mastiffs. He thanked me for even letting his dog come to my facility as others won't even let him in the door. His dog is a pitbull, which I have no issues with so long as they are social. This dog in my opinion was not and was too aggressive to have here. The dogs that I have at my facility are in my care and their owners expect me to keep them safe. I felt this was not possible with his dog. If he is so upset by what I told him, why did you not say it to me when we were speaking and not wait until you were behind the safety of your computer to write things that are not true. Yes, my place is smaller than your other daycares, but this is my starting point, and the clients that I have (which is growing) like the fact that we are smaller and we are able to keep a closer eye on the dogs and provide more personalized attention and more interaction with them. I pride myself in that. We take our dogs outside to potty just like every other place does. But no we do not have a run for them. But this is my first facility and look to expand when the time is right. I am very proud of my facility and my clients love bringing their dogs here and they love coming here.
