Dental Examination
One of the most important things you can do for the long term health of your teeth and gums is to schedule dental exams every six months. Regular checkups will help to keep your gums and teeth healthy and strong and can detect the early onset of problems such as gum disease, oral cancers, and cavities.
X-rays
As a preventative measure, dental x-rays play a critical role in helping us discover potential problems with your teeth, mouth, and jaw that are difficult or impossible to see during a regular checkup. We use x-rays to examine cavities, teeth which haven’t broken through the gums (like wisdom teeth), and bone loss. Dental x-rays provide a huge benefit by allowing us to define dental problems at their earliest stages. Early diagnosis can save money, prevent pain, and minimize actions needed to fix a problem.

Teeth Cleaning
Caring for your gums and teeth is easier and more effective when there is not a hardened layer of plaque attached to your teeth which can possibly result in the inflammation of your gums as well. One of the biggest problems with plaque is that it prevents the bristles from your toothbrush as well as dental floss from cleaning the areas underneath it. The plaque then allows bacteria to grow which can lead to tooth decay and gum disease. Removal of the plaque by professional teeth cleaning allows for a clean surface which in turn makes removal of harmful bacteria easy with regular brushing and flossing.
Fluoride Treatment
Prevention also includes regular dental exams, cleanings, and x-rays. Sealants and fluoride are also great preventive treatments that help protect the teeth.

Fillings
There are many types of filling materials available, each with their own advantages and disadvantages. You and your dentist can discuss the best options for restoring your teeth. Composite fillings, along with silver amalgam fillings, are the most widely used today. At Union Dental we ONLY use composite fillings which are tooth colored, they can be closely matched to the color of existing teeth, and are more aesthetically suited for use in front teeth or the more visible areas of the teeth.
Veneers
Crowns
Crowns (also known as caps) are a dental restoration process in which a porcelain covering is placed over a tooth. Situations where crowns may be called for include aged fillings which have begun to deteriorate, as well as fractured, chipped or sensitive teeth. Crowns can also be used for cosmetic purposes where teeth are malformed, slightly out of position, or discolored.
Bridges
Porcelain dental bridges offer the ideal solution for patients missing a tooth or series of teeth. These dental bridges have a natural appearance, can greatly decrease the possibility of gum disease, and can correct speech impediments and bite difficulties. Another benefit of porcelain dental bridges is that they will eliminate the possibility that your remaining teeth on either side will shift over to fill the gap left by the missing tooth.
Dental Bonding
Porcelain dental bridges consist of a natural looking, custom made false tooth which is supported on either side by one or two porcelain crowns, or a composite bonding material. The porcelain dental bridge is then used to eliminate the gap left by the missing tooth. Porcelain dental bridges can typically provide at least ten years of comfortable wear accompanied by beautiful smiles.

Root Canal Treatment
Root canal therapy is a process used to repair and save a tooth that has extensive damage due to decay or has become infected. The root canal describes natural cavity within the center of the tooth which houses the soft pulp chamber and the nerve of the tooth. A root canal procedure removes the nerve and pulp from inside tooth and then cleans and seals the tooth to protect it from further damage.

Oral Surgery
Treatment of Periodontal disease is made up of three phases; the first being diagnosis of the disease. Once diagnosed, a treatment regimen is defined. Depending on the veracity of the disease, treatment can range from a few simple procedures to oral surgery. Once the disease is controlled, a maintenance schedule is developed which includes simple home care combined with dental office visits and cleanings every three to four months.
