This addition to the already existing Alley Bar had good intentions, but the service is terrible, one minute you're enjoying your favorite cocktail including your favorite choice of liqueur, and suddenly...boom!!! Out of thin air, there are no more ingredients to make another drink which you were previously enjoying!!! High prices yield red solo cups (that is if you're lucky), and a young, undisciplined staff who's main concern is not customer service, but gathering at the end of the bar goofing off while patrons are lucky to get any service at all unless they yell from across the bar, or happen to tag a bus boy to get an order in. For the pinnacle service that one receives during every visit to the Alley Bar, The Aviator has a long ways to go if its owner expects a successful business. DO NOT sit at a table and expect service from the on duty servers, and DO expect leaving your cozy seat at the opposite end of the bar every time you need a refill of your favorite spirits. You should expect the best luck for service from the guys bringing out the glasses, as they seem to be the only ones running back and forth behind the bar. It has been my experience, and my recommendation to try to stop one of these guys in action, as they seem to be the only ones who make the journey from one end of the bar to the other as it seems their responsibilities include bringing out fresh glasses and the occasional check of liqueur levels.

The definition of the "bar tender" has been redefined at The Aviator, seeing as one must go through the two step process of flagging down a bus boy to relay to the "bar tender" that a patron needs service, giving this new addition to the Alley Bar two big thumbs down! The decor is of exquisite taste, as there are endless festive decorations that follow the concept of the name of the bar, having models of old WWI and WWII hanging from the ceiling, rare old black and white photos of real pilots of that era, and even having a real canopy from one of these old aircraft, making at first site a fun and interesting establishment, but how can one enjoy all of these amenities without the outstanding service that we know and love about visiting The Alley Bar. I've given up on The Aviator, and I've just had to settle with Sous La Terre just a block from The Aviator. Make the visit to the Aviator if you dare, but be fair warned...you will be setting up your precious, well deserved day off from work up for disaster.
