MRI
Cost – Saline breast implants are significantly less expensive than are silicone implants and do not require repeated costly MRI examinations. It is generally recommended for patients with silicone implants to have regular MRI breast examinations in order to check for signs of possible occult rupture. With saline implants rupture is quite rare, however, if rupture does occur, it is obvious without special tests since the implant deflates and this is clearly evident on examination by your physician.
Mammography
Mammogram – Patients undergoing breast implant surgery in their late 20s and early 30s will usually not need to undergo mammography breast examination prior to their surgery. It is recommended that all patients having breast surgery aged 35 or older have a preoperative mammogram. Patients who are at higher risk for breast cancer such as those with a positive family history of breast cancer, particularly in their mother or sister, should consult with their plastic surgeon regarding their feelings about the possible need for a preoperative mammogram.
Chemotherapy
The overall prognosis for those treated for the “effusion” type of BIA-ALCL is excellent. However, patients presenting with a solid ALCL tumor mass have a 25% mortality rate at 5 years following their diagnosis. Treatment for more advanced cases may include chemotherapy, radiation treatment, or rarely stem cell transplant therapy.

Abdominoplasty is outpatient surgery carried out under general anesthesia in either our office surgicenter or at an area hospital. When done in conjunction with hysterectomy or multiple other procedures, an inpatient stay may be required. Complete Abdominoplasty takes approximately three hours, whereas partial (mini) Abdominoplasty takes about two hours. A board certified anesthesiologist monitors your breathing and vital signs throughout, and stays with you until you regain full consciousness.

Eyelid Surgery
Cheek lift and midface lift are synonymous terms for the surgery technique in which a small incision is made just below the eyelid margin and the soft tissues of the cheeks are elevated with strategically placed sutures, closing the gap between the lower eyelid structures and cheek tissues. This procedure helps reduce the “tear trough” groove between the lower eyelid and cheek fat, and adds soft tissue fullness to the cheekbones, resulting in a more youthful appearance. Dr. Pratt has found that combining the cheek lift with lower eyelid surgery helps to eliminate the tired look that time so often gives us as we age. The lower eyelids are tightened, reducing the bagginess that tends to form below our eyes.
