South High school, operated by Denver Public Schools, provides classes to students in grades nine through 12. It academic curriculum includes various subjects, such as science and technology, business, English, mathematics, science and world languages. It offers chess and drama clubs, choir and the National Honor Society program. The school organizes quizzes, competitive speech, debate and instrumental music programs. It houses newcomer centers, counseling department, job centers, and reading and writing center that offers reading tips, writing and test preparation tips, homework help, and a information on language and grammar. Its athletic department offers various activities, such as golf, softball, field hockey, cross country, soccer, lacrosse, tennis, and track and field.
