General Info: During the 2013 Texas legislative session, lawmakers passed new rules for Texas hospitals who offer neonatal and maternal care services. To receive designation for those specialties, hospitals must demonstrate compliance to the state rule. Patient care standards must follow national evidenced-based standards. Verification surveys evaluate that they meet certain standards for caring for babies and mothers based on their designation level. Surveys document whether the hospital has met the criteria
